MISSION: JROTC is a full credit and extremely fun elective course that places heavy value on: 1. Giving students an appreciation for the origin, advantages and responsibilities of citizenship. 2. Developing an understanding of leadership skills and the advantages of strong moral character. 3. Promoting in the students an understanding for the need and application of national security. 4. Developing in students a sense of pride and personal discipline and responsibility. 5. Developing an understanding and respect for constitutional authority as the foundation of a democratic society. There are four levels of cadets and they range from LE1 to LE4. Any student can take JROTC. Depending on the level of experience will depend on which level, or coursework, you will be assigned. Each summer JROTC Cadets take a free summer trip to one of the Marine Corps bases or they participate in a leadership camp. The orientation trips go to places like Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA, Camp LeJuene in Jacksonville, NC or Marine Corps Base Kanohoe Bay, HI. The purpose of the orientation trip is to provide Cadets the opportunity to see the Marine Corps' equipment, observe how it conducts field training, and to give the Cadets a general overview of the daily life of being a Marine. The leadership camp is more "hands on" and it provides Cadets the opportunity to develop their personal leadership skills. Most of the time is spent in an atmoshpere allowing each individual to be more directly involved. Both events are 100% free to the students.
*** There is no military committment associated with JROTC and we are not linked to any recruiting effort for any branch of the US military. This class is a great way for young adults to develop as leaders and to gain exposure to the Marine Corps.
